This Is Not A Gateway 2010's theme is The Corporation - otherwise known as Financial Districts/The City/Central Business District’s and Downtowns.
The Discussion: Money/Space/Art will bring together invited contributors like Joseph Heathcott and Christian Nolde, drop-in participants and members of Critical Practice to explore the uneasy relations between art, money and how they are spatialised.
We'll consider how art moves, performs, announces, resists and celebrates money and vice versa: how money moves, performs, announces, resists and celebrates art.
Held in the wake of Frieze 2010 and within the broader context of devastating cuts in cultural funding, this urgent discussion engages with the complex and contingent relations between artworld(s) and economics.
As part of my contribution I'll be talking about capital, a project at Tate and the Bank of England in 2001, and using some of the research for Circulation.
